NEUAL 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 18 [02/Mar/12]

Results from NEUAL matches 9, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 18 have now been published, with wins for York, Liverpool, Durham, Sheffield and two for Lancaster. After these results have been added in, MMU Cheshire are top, albeit have played more matches.

Deep breath...

Match 9 was a Roses clashes and York's 2107 was enough to defeat an off colour Lancaster who could only muster 2066 in response. Northumbria were third in the match on 1729. Arjun Kharpal (York) top scored in the match on 556, whilst Lancaster won the novice match, York second.

Liverpool scored 1969, but still won match 10 with room to spare. MMU Cheshire were just over 200 behind on 1764, but Leeds only fielded 3 archers, scraping over 900. MMU Cheshire won the novice match with three novices against one from Leeds and none at all from Liverpool.

Roberts Storrar and Russell (both Durham) both shot 550s to propel their side to 2153 and a comfortable win in match 12. Huddersfield notced 1924 in second place , with three man Bradford in third. Durham won the novice match, Huddersfield second, no score for Bradford.

Match 13 was a more competitive affair at least between the top two teams out of four. Sheffield fired in 2171 to beat York who scored 2102. Rory Campbell (Sheffield) got 569 and there were low 550s from Arjun Kharpal (York) and Gareth Beeby (Sheffield). MMU Cheshire were third in the match on 1679, but well clear of Bradford's two archer total of 945. Sheffield comprehensively won the novice match on 1506, with 520s from Harry Day and Tom Watson. York pipped MMU Cheshire by 23, with Bradford again failing to score.

Lancaster and Liverpool should have also faced Sunderland and Durham in match 14, but instead simply faced each other. The senior match was a thriller however, eventually won by Lancaster thanks to a 564 from Kevin Toutain, final scores Lancaster 2143, Liverpool 2126. Liverpool did get revenge in the novice match, easily as Lancaster only fielded two novices.

Finally in this batch of NEUAL fixtures, Lancaster scored 2164 to thrash Huddersfield who were themselves way ahead of MMU Cheshire. All three sides failed to field three novices and Huddersfield came out on top, MMU Cheshire second.

...and relax.

This whistlestop round up of NEUAL results leaves MMU Cheshire top of both senior and novice NEUAL tables, albeit having completed more fixtures. The sheer number of DNSs makes the table difficult to read however. Keele are last, despite posting the highest NEUAL match total of the year. Sheffield are unbeaten in matches contested. It is York however, who, at the moment look most likely to capitalise on the chaos, although results for match 8, Lancaster v Sheffield v Leeds, from before Christmas, are close to appearing which also could have a significant impact.

The NEUAL Indoor Champs take place this weekend in Liverpool.
