Southampton and Imperial are on a collision course after both recorded wins in SEAL. Southampton recorded a 50 point victory over Surrey, with 2114, top scorer Vincent Tse 542. London ULA were a very distant third. Southampton won the novice match well, although could scarcely do otherwise since Surrey and London fielded incomplete teams.
Imperial also won, but had a much easier time again Brunel and London. Imperial's total of 2171 was dominated by a tremendous 577 from Travis Woodward, a SEAL record I think. Jordan Muscatello (Imperial) contributed 550. Brunel managed 1945 with a 547 from Marc Bibby. London were a DNS due to illness. Get well soon, although having completed their matches they prop up both senior and novice SEAL tables. Imperial also won their novice match easily, with Brunel fielding two and London no novices.
Imperial v Southampton v Sussex, scheduled for Sat 24th (tomorrow) thus assumes critical importance. A win for Imperial would give them their third consecutive senior SEAL title, whereas Southampton will be looking to put themselves on course for their first senior-level regional championship win.
The novice match is even more intriguing since it pits three unbeaten sides against one another - very unusual for this time of the season. Imperial's novices will be looking for revenge as Southampton defend their hard-won title. Sussex meanwhile, already assured of their best ever finish in the novice league, start as outsiders but go into the match knowing a win will make them champions.
