Smith-Bannister for SWWU [29/Jul/10]

The SWWU organiser for 2010/11 will be Amyce Smith-Bannister (Bath), who takes over from David Leach (Swansea) in line with SWWU's policy of rotating the organiser's job between the clubs. Her email address for SWWU business is acasb20@@bath.ac.uk.

The 2009/10 season was a good one for SWWU, with the league going up from three teams to four, with Gloucestershire joining regulars Bath, Exeter and Swansea. However, even with four teams, SWWU is still by far the smallest league with SUS and BUTTS at 7, NEUAL and SEAL at 9 teams each. There is a club at Plymouth and they have competed regularly at recent BUCS Indoors. At SWWU level however, they have remained elusive, with their most recent regular SWWU fixture in May 2004. If anyone from Plymouth (or who knows anyone at Plymouth), is reading this, please get in touch with UKSAA or with Amyce Smith-Bannister.

Elsewhere, Matt Nowicki and Steven Johnson will continue at SUS and BUTTS in 2010/11. NEUAL and SEAL have yet to announce who will be in charge there next year, although Brad Keogh, who stepped in to help SEAL this year, has ruled himself out.

In more SEAL news, results from a match hosted by Sussex back on 23rd January have come to light - not the scores in full, but at least the order of the teams. In the senior match, Surrey beat Kent, with Sussex third. In the novice match Kent beat Surrey, with Sussex third. This means that Surrey finish in second place overall in the SEAL senior table. In the novice table, Kent and Surrey were in a shoot off for second and third place, Kent coming out on top. Sussex finished bottom of both senior and novice tables with only one set of confirmed scores over the entire year.

There have, at time of writing, been no further updates with respect to post-Christmas NEUAL scores or the squad to go to Shenzhen.
