Fireworks about to commence [05/Nov/10]

The 2010/11 season is about to kick off for real. There are deadlines for BUTC and the E-League today, followed by the first regional league fixtures of the season (in SUS and the Irish IVL) tomorrow.

Dundee are at home to Aberdeen and Heriot-Watt in the SUS curtain raiser, but even before a competitive arrow has been shot, this has been a troubled season for Dundee. Over the summer Dundee's captain unexpectedly graduated - with no-one yet taking the helm, communication between Dundee and the rest of SUS has proved problematic. Current Vice Captain Florian Hasler holds the reins in the meantime. The match itself looks likely to be shot over three waves (AB/CD/EF) as a lack of bosses would limit it to 9 archers per club. Aberdeen will be looking to be SUS' best of the rest again after a good 09/10 campaign. Aberdeen have not been without pre-season trauma too - their bid for BUCS Indoors had been successful until their venue subsequently removed the support they had previously given.

University College Dublin will host the first IIVL match of the season. Last year they narrowly pipped Limerick into second place in the IIVL table, behind champions Dublin City.

There are also a couple of deadlines today. Bids to host BUTC 2011 are due to be sent to UKSAA, with hosts announced as as soon as possible afterwards. Scores for round 1, September/October, of the E-League must also be submitted today. These results should then be published by Sunday [correction] morning.

In other news, East Anglia will not now be joining SEAL in 2010/11. They may however be joining BUTTS, although this is still to be confirmed. The club, based in Norwich, lie on the SEAL BUTTS border - such a move would give both leagues a total of nine teams.
