Napier nab BUTC hosting [31/Dec/10]
Hope you all had a merry Christmas and have a happy new year! Just before it actually becomes 2011, an announcement on the hosting of BUTC 2011 can finally be made. The ninth BUTC will be hosted by Napier on Saturday 19th February 2011, that date subject to final confirmation, but unlikely to be altered.
Napier University is located in Edinburgh, as BUTC returns to the city for the third time after Edinburgh University hosted the inaugural 2003 tournament and also the 2007 event. BUTC will be the first major event to be held at the new sports facility at Napier University's recently rebuilt Sighthill Campus.
More detailed tournament information, including the entry form and deadline, will be announced in the BUTC section of this site.
The new venue will, in January, become Napier's seventh and hopefully final indoor home since the club's creation in 2004. Napier have previously hosted BUSA Outdoors 2006 and the SUS club have been ever presents at BUTC from that year onwards.
Apologies to all for the delay in announcing BUTC hosts - there are now only 50 days to go until the event itself. A previous bid from another club was on the point of being confirmed (and announced) but fell through at the last minute. An extended deadline for bids did not get any responses, but after subsequent expressions of interest from a few different sources, a bid from Napier was successful.
The message to clubs interested in hosting BUTC 2012 is get your thinking caps on early and feel free to notify UKSAA if you think you might be interested. If you have a hall and plenty of enthusiasm, then you never know...
