SWWU 8 to who? [11/May/24]
Bath won SWWU match 8, extending their lead to 2 league points, plus there have been a variety of Varsity results to publish.
In a match that was held on a WA900, Bath finished 67 points ahead of Bristol, 2812-2755, despite the match top scorer being Alex Williams (Bristol) who notched 821. The WA900 is also the Sunday round at BUCS Outdoors in Lilleshall. Swansea pipped Exeter to third place. Bristol comfortably won the novice match with Magdalena Kazmierczak (Bristol) top novice on 701. Bristol were the only complete novice team of 4, with Exeter second. Rob Hargreaves (Plymouth) was top compound on 814 and Plymouth held off Swansea for top spot in the compound match.
With one match to go, Bath's seniors now have 76 league points to Bristol's 74. Second place in match 9 would be enough to guarantee Bath the senior SWWU title for the first time since 2015. Bristol would need to beat Bath by 3 clear places or by 2 places and 201 points. Exeter will definitely finish third overall. In the novice table, Bristol lead by 10 points, so need only to attend the final match to be assured of the title. Swansea's compounds lead that table by 6 points and are in a similar position to Bristol's novices.
The final SWWU fixture of the season takes place on 19th May.
Elsewhere, NEUAL organisers have collated results from NEUAL match 3 and calculated the end of season NEUAL tables. However, these will not be published until after the NEUAL Outdoor Champs, taking place on 11th and 12th May. TOUCAN Field Champs took place at Merlin Field Course on 5th May. TOUCAN Outdoor Champs is on 12th May.
